Guatemala Huehuetenango - Primavera Family Small Producers
Roast levels are like points of view and as specialty roasters we typically look at coffees through the lens of lighter roasts. However, we realize that many people find darker roasted coffees to be absolutely delicious. So we challenged ourselves to deliver a delicious dark roast while still maintaining the coffee's character. With a little help from the coffee consultant Rob Hoos' work on roasting dark we were able to achieve this. The results is a big creamy body, rich chocolate sweetness and a smooth lingering finish.
About this coffee from the Importer: Primavera Green Coffee
The Primavera Family lot was created from 10-15 producers in the Huehuetenango region. The quality of these lots were better suited to a balanced regional coffee than to offer as single microlots, and sometimes the lots themselves are too small to stand alone as microlots. We purchase these coffees to offer a wider range of quality, and producers can sell more of their coffee for a better price, enabling them to invest in their farms and wet mills. We are constantly working with our producers to help them improve the quality and productivity of their farms. We hope that in the future we might be able to sell more of these lots as single-farm coffees.
For this lot, we purchased and blended coffees of 84 and 85 points to create a regional coffee with the classic, balanced Huehue profile. This regional lot is unique, and each lot has full transparency and is traceable to the farm level.
